Reverend
Dr. William Curtis
Reverend
Dr. William H. Curtis is the Senior Pastor of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church,
located in urban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
A
native of Baltimore, Maryland, Reverend Curtis accepted a call to ministry
at the age of 17. He possesses a bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious
Studies and Philosophy from Morgan State University, a Master of Divinity
Degree from the Howard University School of Divinity, and a Doctor of
Ministry Degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.
Dr. Curtis' commitment to excellence through education is directly attributable
to his capabilities, not only as an anointed preacher of the gospel,
but also an effective teacher in practical instruction.
In
1997, Reverend Curtis was called to Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. Since Dr. Curtis' arrival at Mt. Ararat, the church has
grown from 400 to over 7500 with four worship services each weekend.
His ministry has led to several landmark events at Ararat, including
the formation of a Community Development Corporation to minister to
the greater Pittsburgh area and the liquidation of the church mortgage
in a one-day "Harvest Sunday" offering. He implemented a community
tithe program which returns over 10% of the congregation's offering
to the community.
Dr.
Curtis has emerged as one of the well-known, spirit-filled preachers
of our time. His spiritual wisdom and influence has earned him participation
in a nation "think-tank" with former President Clinton, inclusion
in a book title "Outstanding Black Sermons, Volume Four" edited
by Dr. Walter S. Thomas, and the opportunity to minister in a multiplicity
of political and community forum throughout the City of Pittsburgh.
Pastor
Curtis serves on the Board of the Urban League of Pittsburgh, is a member
of the African American Leadership Committee and serves as the President
of Hampton University Ministers' Conference.
In
2001, Dr. Curtis founded William H. Curtis Ministries in an effort to
expand his ministry throughout the United States and abroad. Reverend
Curtis' spiritual burden to bring lost souls to Christ and encourage
spiritual maturation and intimacy with God drives his commitment to
spreading the gospel whenever the opportunity presents itself. Pastor
Curtis' anointed, powerful, and life applicable preaching exemplifies
that well know scripture, "well done, good and faithful servant".
Reverend
Curtis is married to the former Christine Y. Richardson, and they are
the proud parents of one lovely daughter, Houston.
